The personal trainer from East Yorkshire was matched by experts with the programme’s oldest contestant.

Tonight’s scenes showed the pair clap eyes on each other for the first time as they met at the altar on their big day.

After explaining that she has had “bad luck” in the past with her relationships, including a relationship with the father of her children for seven years, Marilyse turned to the show to help her find “the one”.

Nerves began to mount as the two had to explain to their families that they were planning on marrying a complete stranger, but the scenes showed that both longed for similar things.

On the big day, family and friends filled the venue, with the groom’s mother seeming particularly pleased that her son had bagged a “gorgeous” wife “who looked like Angelina Jolie”.

After making her entrance, the bride-to-be joined her groom at the altar in an encounter that was filled with smiles and giggles.

The celebrity lookalike compliments continued, with Marilyse labelling Franky a “Daniel Craig lookalike”.

The rings were exchanged, despite Franky struggling to put Marilyse’s on, and in traditional manner the newly weds shared a kiss.

Her new husband, a strength and conditioning coach, had fought for his country for 15 years and has lived in Dubai for another 15.

The pair found that not only were they both sport-minded, but they had something else more specific in common too – they were both born in the same hospital.

Originally, Franky comes from Pontefract, which is where Marilyse was born.

After the ceremony, it was time to get down to the serious conversations, where the new couple discovered they were less compatible on the family side.

During their post-vows photoshoot, Marilyse nervously admitted to Franky that she has two children, a 15-year-old and a 12-year-old boy, while Franky has none.

But, to her surprise, Franky replied: “I think children are ace and I’m looking forward to meeting them.”

The day was rounded off with a reception, speeches, and an intimate last dance.

In the final scenes, the newly weds seemed excited to begin their journey together, though Franky seemed less excited that he had been banished to the sofa on his wedding night, rather than spending it in bed with his new wife.
