Loose Women’s Denise Welch revealed that her husband exposed an online troll who was sending her horrific abuse.
Speaking on Monday’s show during a segment on Meghan Markle being trolled, Denise revealed some of the messages sent to her this year was ‘beyond’, as she tried to offer reassurance on the coronavirus pandemic and pushed for people to realise the devastating impact it’s been having on people’s mental health.
She then told Andrea McLean, Brenda Edwards and Kelle Bryan, that her other half, Lincoln, saw one of the messages come through and was determined to uncover their identity.
She revealed to her Loose Women colleagues : “Lincoln saw a tweet that had come through to me from a guy whose handle was @horrible… ‘four letters’ – the word that we don’t use,” Chronicle Live reports.
“For some reason Lincoln turned detective and managed to find the guy.
“He went through his timeline and found a selfie he’d taken at the wheel.
“He saw the name name of a company on his badge, phoned the company and the guy was called in.”
Revealing her surprise at what happened next, Denise added: “Lincoln then got contacted by the guy and he got in touch begging and begging Lincoln to take the photo that he posted of him down off Twitter.
“He said ‘My wife doesn’t know I do this, I go to the garden shed and I troll people and don’t want my wife and child to know.'”
Reacting to what Denise said, Andrea responded: “99.999% of the trolls I get are middle aged women who are probably super nice at the school gate but then go home and write the most vile things to other women.”
Denise also said that more needs to be done to educate school children on the effects of trolling and one viewer tweeted her to say: “just watching your comment about trolling awareness in schools.
This is exactly what I do as part of my charity around facial disfigurement and visible difference.
It’s so very needed.”.
