Great British Bake Off has returned to our screens and fans have already been introduced to the contestants for this latest series and even some of their dogs.
A number of them even made an appearance during the first episode including a Japanese Spitz, Eli, Prudence the Bedlington terrier and Maxi the retired racing greyhound.
But what about the judges and presenters of the show – do they have any beloved pooches who would be watching their owners weekly?
In fact, Prue Leith surprised her husband with the ultimate wedding gift – a puppy.
Recalling the experience, she wrote on her website: “We have both always loved dogs, it’s how we met, dog walking at weekends.
“When John and I decided to marry I wanted to give him a wedding present. But since we are both in our seventies, we already have too many things.
“But John had often talked of his favourite dog, now long dead.
“A Cavalier Spaniel, she was apparently so good she’d cross Piccadilly at his heels without a lead; lie under his feet on trains and buses, carry his bag or newspaper, etc.
“So when we returned from our honeymoon I put twelve-week-old Tattie into his arms.
“Well, they adore each other, but is she as good as gold? Hardly. I don’t think she’s ever heard the word ‘No’.
“When I protest that he lets her on the sofa when the other dogs aren’t, that she’s allowed to jump up, go in the car, he replies. “But she’s a princess. Princess Tatiana to be exact.”
“Useless to remind him that she was called Tattie to go with Neeps (his other dog) and Haggis, now no longer with us.”
Meanwhile, Paul Hollywood also shares his home with a dog – called Bear.
Speaking about the Rottweiler, the 55-year-old told AgaLiving :“Rottweilers get a bad rap, but it’s only the look of the dog and the history.
“I’ve had Labradors in my life and Bear acts just like a Labrador.”
Comedian and now one half of the GBBO presenting team, Matt Lucas tragically lost his pet dog Milo last year.
The chocolate Labrador unfortunately died following a short battle with cancer.
Matt hailed Milo as “one of the greatest friends” he ever had.
Sharing an emotional tribute to Instagram at the time, Matt wrote: “The unthinkable has happened.
“Dear Milo passed away tonight, after a short battle with cancer.
“He was nearly 13. Thank you to Kevin for insisting we get a puppy, and to Alex and Craig and Jamie and Edna and everyone who helped me look after him.
“And apologies if he ever stole your football in the park.
“There are umpteen punctured, half-eaten footballs at my house, if anyone wants one. Milo, I love you.”
