New Chaser Darragh Ennis makes debut on ITV show

ITV’s new Chaser Darragh Ennis has finally made his debut on the show – and he’s left viewers all saying one thing.

After five years, The Chase has introduced a new Chaser to the team.

Darragh will join the Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett, Anne ‘The Governess’ Hegerty, Jenny ‘The Vixen’ Ryan, Shaun ‘The Dark Destroyer’ Wallace and Paul ‘The Sinnerman’ Sinha on the ITV game show.

Viewers may recognise Darragh, as he was once a contestant on the show.

He appeared on The Chase in 2017, winning £9,000 in total during the money building round.

His fellow contestants decided to accept lower offers from The Chaser, taking home £1,575 each.

Paul Sinha called him ‘the best player’ that the show had ever seen.

But after his first appearance as Chaser, viewers are all saying that Darragh is ‘too nice.’

One fan tweeted: “New chaser is wayyy too nice. He needs some tips from The Beast. #TheChase.”

Another said: “Mr Nice guy chaser. Come on where’s the insults #TheChase.”

“The new chaser sounds too nice with his Irish accent to be mean!! #thechase #ennisthemenace,” said another.

“New guy seems really nice. Looks a bit nervous,” wrote another fan.

And another said: “First impressions – he’s far too nice.”

Announcing the news in April 2020, Ennis tweeted: “I’m really excited to be the 6th chaser on #TheChase.

“I’ve been working hard on this for a while now and can’t wait for my episodes to air. Well, the ones I win anyway.”

  • The Chase continues weekdays on ITV at 5pm.
