Seven of the UK’s best pumpkin patches to visit ahead of Halloween

Many farms across the UK are preparing to open their gates to pumpkin pickers as we approach Halloween – but where might you find the best of the best?

Parkdean Resorts has compiled a rundown of its favourite gourd growers from all four corners of the country.

If you’re ready to throw on cosy knits and embrace the autumn weather, then look no further than these seven spooky sites…

1. Humble Bee’s Pumpkin Patch, North Yorkshire

Humble Bee’s family-friendly Halloween trail runs from October 23 – 30 and is perfect to get you and your family in the spirit.

The event starts with pumpkin picking and carving, followed by a hair-raising walk around the farm’s nature trail.

Slots are available everyday from 10am to 2pm.

2. Laverock Hall Farm, Northumberland

If you’re picky about your pumpkins, Laverock Hall Farm could be the ideal place for you.

The team there are considered experts in their field (and across the UK!) and have grown the sinister squashes for many years.

Gates are open to pumpkin pickers every weekend from October 9, 10am to 4pm.

3. Wester Hardmuir Fruit Farm, Highland

This family-run farm near Inverness offers fruit picking all spring and summer, before turning attention to pumpkins when October comes.

There is no need to book a slot at Wester Hardmuir Fruit Farm, so this could be ideal if you’re in the area and fancy a last-minute day out.

4. Foxes Farm Produce, Essex

If it’s variety you’re after, Foxes Farm Produce near Colchester offers more than 15 types of pumpkin to choose from.

The patch is already open for picking, with plenty of photo opportunities, games and refreshments on offer.

Tickets are available every day from 9am to 4pm.

5. Cowbridge Farm, South Glamorgan

Cowbridge Farm has boasted some massive pumpkins in the past, perfect for making a large jack-o’-lantern or cooking a pumpkin-flavoured feast.

Grab a wheelbarrow and venture around the field to find your ideal pumpkin – and don’t forget to get a picture for Instagram too!

6. Hill Farm, Norfolk

Hill Farm has a family-run shop offering fresh seasonal grown fruit and vegetables, including pumpkins.

With plenty of photo opportunities, this could be the ideal place for families to get in the mood for Halloween.

Gates are open to pumpkin pickers every day bar Sunday.

7. East Grange, Durham

Tickets are now on sale for the pumpkin patch at East Grange, which opens on October 16.

Their 30,000 pumpkins are priced individually by size, so this could be the place to grab yourself a real bargain for just £1.

As with all of these field-based Halloween events, wellies are recommended!
