‘Too Many Broken Hearts’ as Jason Donovan cancels Hull appearance

Aussie pop-star and former Neighbours actor Jason Donovan has given ‘Ten Good Reasons’ for cancelling a number of dates on his latest tour, including his show at Hull’s Bonus Arena.

The team behind the 53-year-old’s show have been severely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, meaning they haven’t been able to properly prepare for the tour.

‘It Isn’t Every Day (I Love You More)’ that a star like Jason makes an appearance in the city and fans have been told there will be no rescheduled date this time around – leaving them wishing for a time ‘When You Come Back to Me’.

The announcement was ‘Sealed With a Kiss’, well a statement, which was released this morning ‘Especially For You’, well for everyone actually – but that is enough puns for now.

Jason was due to appear at Hull’s Bonus Arena on Saturday, October 9, which was itself a rearranged date from earlier in the pandemic.

The show has now been cancelled completely as the tour dates have had to be moved around to accommodate a later start date of October 2, which means Hull will miss out while other venues like Scunthorpe will still get a performance.

The Bonus Arena tweeted this morning: “Jason Donovan, who was due to visit the Bonus Arena, Hull on Saturday, 9 October, has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled.

“Refunds will automatically be made by your point of purchase and no further action needs to be taken. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”

A statement from Jason’s team said: “We know some of you have been contacted by a venue or two already, so it’s with a heavy heart that for one final time, we have had to move around some of the Even More Good Reasons shows.

“As it stands, not all of our team would have been double vaccinated by time we were due to start rehearsals.

“We hoped to have all of our musicians and crew double jabbed by early September so that we have the best chance of not having to cancel any shows during the tour because of Covid.

“Through no fault of our own, timings haven’t worked out for everyone, so we have no option but to move our start date to 2nd October.

“There will inevitably be some disappointments and there are no words to express how sorry we are, but as you are aware, we are living through the strangest of times, guidelines frequently changing, and our options under the circumstances are limited.

“We hope as many of you as possible will still be able to get to a show. And what a show it will be once we eventually get to put that curtain up!”
